Wave-piercing With The World’s Most Extreme Super Yacht!

It may not be the fastest, but what could be classified as the world's most extreme superyacht has been developed. This wave-piercing luxury trimaran may look like something from a Star Trek movie, but it's no fantasy.

Craig Loomes is making a point. Three points to be exact. In his latest Buck-the-Trend, D A M N the Torpedoes hull design, he’s combined one part superyacht, one part submarine and one part angry hornet trumped-up on amphetamines into a stabilized monohull with wreckless disregard for waves. And just who is this Loomatic? Craig Loomes is yacht designer from down under whose motto appears to be the first rule in Italian driving… “remove the rearview mirror, because what’s behind you doesn’t matter any more.”

The 146-meter Trimaran concept is the warp-forward offspring to the “Earthrace Wavepiercer Trimaran”, a globetrotting, purpose-built boat targeting the world circumnavigation record by favoring consistency over speed. This futuristic, 24-meter wave slayer is producing better than anticipated efficiency while taming decelerations induced by wave impact. The result is a much smoother, albeit wildly wetter ride.

In just a few short years, Loomes has gained worldwide recognition for hulls designed to silhouette waves and they have certainly pierced the press, claiming such accolades as the International Superyacht Society award for “Best Power 32m to 43m” in 2004 for his 33 meter Wavepiercer.

While the design doesn’t offer the usual exterior walkways, it offers something very different… observation lounges contained within the highest point of the arches for a birds-eye view of the main hull submerging itself with frequency. The exaggerated arches serve another purpose, to place the air intake for the engines at the highest point possible on the vessel.

The yacht concept also benefits from the submariner approach, with consistent transatlantic speeds estimated at 40 knots, moving it into a realm few others can venture. Projected power plants are four MTU V-20 8000 diesels, pumping out 8,200 hp each, which is expected to produce a sprint speed of 50 knots!

Because the hull form is narrow, accommodations have been split into multi-level staterooms for up to 28 guests. The master, seen here, is a tri-level suite. Other facilities include a helicopter pad on the aft deck and quite possibly… a cave, because if Batman had a boat, Loomes designed it.

Preliminary specifications:LOA: 148 meters
Beam: No slip wide enough
Draft: 3.6 meters
Weight: 3000 tons
Power: 4 x MTU V-20 8000’s
Range: 3000 miles at 40 knots
Cruise speed (estimated): 40 knots
Top Speed (estimated): 50 knots

'Flying' Fountains - Super Sport Boats !

Fountain Powerboats was founded by Reggie Fountain with the single minded goal of building the fastest, smoothest, safest, best-handling and most dependable boats on the water.

Apart from manufacturing boats that have set the pulse of its clientele racing, Fountain Powerboats have formally participated in various classes of racing with a lot of success and heritage to beckon with.

A FOUNTAIN FOR EVERYTHING

Speed being theor forte - Fountain makes Sport Boats, Fish Boats and Express Cruisers.

Though their Sport Boats range is extensive, a lot of attention and importance to detail is given to the engineering of their Fishing and Express Cruiser ranges. Available in a wide range of designs, dashes, engines and options galore...each Fountain is definitely a customised affair.

MERCURY

As in motorsports in Formula 1...where the chassis is manufactured by a certain chassis specialist and the engine is developed by a engine specialist...every Fountain Power Boat of its calibre comes with a Mercury engine specially designed for that particular Fountain.

With the best of the sports boats touching optimum velocities of upto 180 miles per hour, you know that you are only talking about the best and most durable engines in the world.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

Fountain is one of the few boat builders worldwide that has earned ISO 9001 certification, which ensures a design and manufacturing process that is geared towards ultimate customer satisfaction through extensive documentation of all systems. At Fountain, they build virtually every component part used on our boats.

Complete attention is given to the famous deep-V hull designing, the construction of the hull and the super-structure, the dashes are a class apart...propellors

Additionally, they are one of the few boat builders that takes the time to bond the deck and hull together with fiberglass as part of our six-step bonding process to create a unitized construction that is more durable and less likely to flex and break.

EXTREME VELOCITY

At Fountain they compete for one reason: 'When We Race, You Win.' Racing allows them to test their designs, innovations and lamination schedules in extreme conditions that can't be simulated any other way. Racing keys their nonstop Research & Development program.

The Fountain Sport Boat Range includes :-

33 LIGHTNING (MAX VELOCITY - 82 mph)

35 EXECUTIONER (MAX VELOCITY - 78+ mph)

You CANT Smoke this CIGARETTE !

If there were cigarettes that your parents wouldn't mind you smoking...then it would only be these...

The name that was actually given since these boats were used at first to smuggle cigarettes into Canada and therefore derived their nick name as the "cigarette boat".

A company was formed later and trademarked the actual name Cigarette.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED?

If you know about Power-boat racing, then you would surely be familiar with the name Don Aronow.

Aronow's boats won over 350 offshore races, owned every speed record in every country at one time and he was a two-time world champion and three-time U.S. champion.

He has been elected to every powerboating Hall of Fame in existence and was one of only two Americans to have ever received the UIM Gold Medal of Honor, the other being Gar Wood.

CIGARETTE MODELS

Nothing like low-tar or a Light version here - all these are in-your-face ultimate mean machines that fly on water....

There are 3 types of Cigarettes - Sport Cruiser, Center Console and the ultimate is the High Performance; where engines dole out upto 1200 horsepower and have exciting names like MARAUDER and TOP GUN UNLIMITED !

LEGENDS ARE BUILT, NOT BORN

To get an idea about how a Cigarette is built to be as unique as its owner, one needs to know the 10 well-defined steps that happen only by the culmination of many departments working together in unison.

Step One - LAMINATION : Here the mold that is used for the hull of the Cigarette is gel-coated with the same gel that forms the exterior of the boat. In the end, the precision of the hull is judged by weighin the hull to identify what irregularities could occur during manufacturing.

Step Two - CARPENTRY : The Stringer system or the Backbone of the boat is then cut and installed.

Step Three - FINISHING : The joined hull, deck and its parts are shifted to the Finishing Department where the surface is sanded to a glossy finish.

Step Four - RIGGING : Here the internal work is done - engines, drives, trim tabs to electrical systems and dashboards.

Step Five - ELECTRICAL : A painstaking step that involves placement of the myriad wires into the structure of the boat - the boat's own Circulatory System.

Step Six - UPHOLSTERY : Cushioned to fit right!

Step Seven - EMBROIDERY : Obviously you would want leather, and these guys have 1000s of options to Cigarette logos and to match colors.

Step Eight - PAINT : This is surely the most exciting part of every Cigarette...sometimes taking upto a month to complete.

Step Nine - FINAL RIGGING : This is like Garnishing a salad...fine-tuning till the last detail...just before the sea-trial.

Step Ten - SEA TRIAL : Sea-trialed a number of times, it is not only about going flat-out on water but more extensive work involving checklists.

NOT JUST A BOAT

A Cigarette is not just a boat - it's a hand-created work of art, a mixture of old world craftsmanship and new-world technology. It is music to your ears and a feast for your eyes.

These boats are difficult to detect by radar except on flat calm seas or at close range.

Surely now we all know which boat to aspire for...
