YA RIVAAAAA....
One of the more famous brands in the Ferretti Group - RIVA - started as a small damaged-boat company but has ended catering to the super famous personas of Brigitte Bardot, Richard Burton, Sophia Loren, Prince Ranier, Aristotle Onassis, Peter Sellers, with their exquisite and fine range of yachts.
It would be easy to spot a Riva from miles away thanks to the unique look carried through its design philosophy and mix of elements that conform its design.
With Riva's uncompromising quality and superior materials, this renowned name became the only choice of kings and queens, emperors, princess and sultans, actors and sportsmen, matinee idols, the international jet set and business tycoons worldwide.
BUILDING ON A LEGEND
In 1842, Pietro Riva traveled from Laglio, on the banks of Lake Como, Italy to Sarnico, on Lake Iseo, to fix a series of storm damaged boats that everybody else had given up on.
A daunting feat, but Pietro was up to the task.
Soon, he was attracting attention as a miracle worker. But with his talents, he didn't want to just put boats back together - he wanted to build boats that nobody had ever seen before. Build them he did and Riva's rich heritage was officially launched.
Over the years, the company moved from rebuilding boats to 'innovative' boats ie Riva was the first to fit piston engines...and eventually into the embryonic power racing boating scene.
RACING HERITAGE
Under Serafino Riva's direction, he stopped producing passengers and cargo boats, launching Riva into the embryonic power racing boating scene.
On the deck of his beloved racing boat, he was able, in 1912, to achieve a speed of 24 km per hour. Serafino's competitive ambitions drove Riva to a series of successes in national and international motor boating competitions between the first and second world wars.
Not content to remain solely in this role, Riva increased its line to include boats built for pleasure as well.
It was to be still, another turning point.
By the 1950s, the Riva name, under the leadership of Carlo Riva, became a worldwide symbol of quality, elegance, speed and status.
IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE BEST, WHY NOT EXPERIENCE THE BEST
In May 2000, with the entry of Riva in the Ferretti Group - the world's major group of luxury boating - a new season started.
With zeal bordering on mania, Riva's engineering department began to study new models and a new Riva style was born.
In Sarnico, smaller boats like the Aquariva and Rivarama were being produced that advanced the craft, yet paid absolute respect to past Riva legends.
Their success was, fittingly, legendary.
Craftsmanship, unmatchable quality, innovative but always functional design, has always been Riva's hallmark.
Those same principles remain firmly in place. With meticulous attention to structural detail, every boat in the Riva Line, from 33ft. to 115 ft. is given a precise personality linked to its name.
Riva is, more than ever, a refined, elegant and timeless beauty on water with state of the art design and performance capabilities.
A unique style, Riva style has born from the fusion between boating and design.
MODELS
The Rivas are a fine and unique flock of boats. Most of the manufacturers have boats that seem like a gradual increment in design compared to the smaller range. But the Rivas are all unique and different from size-to-size without compromising their emphasis on design.
Below are only 4 of Riva's most enigmatic and popular models.
The Sunriva - A new concept for a day-cruiser that unites style with comfort, this celebrated mover is fast for transfers, agile to drive and perfect for spending an intense day in the sea.
The Aquariva Super - Aquariva continues the legendary Aquarama heritage while developing a cult following in her own right.
Vertigo 63' - The new 63' Vertigo arrives to immense acclaim.
With its harmonic and slender lines, Riva reinterprets the "open" concept.
A roll bar design emphasizes its unique style, permitting a spacious opening in the rear of the cockpit - an accent to her resolute spirit.
Duchessa 92' - Curved, racy lines harmoniously design the profile of this yacht which encloses all the elegance and inimitable Riva style, as always in a solution featuring a unique, original design.
The new, refined jewel has been added to the Riva collection, which currently features twelve models, and will be on display in September at 2008 Cannes Boat Show.
Wonder who is the most classiest of the most flamboyant Indians that would consider going in for a Riva...?
