My Private Island - Tanaz Noble

At GIIRA Yachts, we come across a lot of interesting information that makes us sit back and realise that some people are really lucky.

We not only know of people who own the loveliest yachts but also have their own private beach...something that is not possible in India any more...

But when we came across Tanaz Noble...she takes the crown!

Tanaz Noble, a journo by profession from India's most beautiful archipelago - the Andaman and Nicobar Islands - was born and bought up on an island of her own....

Can you imagine...her own paradise full of spectacular surprises....!

Below...she shares a piece of her heart...

"MY PRIVATE ISLAND"

"It's funny, how living surrounded by aqua blue, one gets so carried
away with making money that they forget to take a dip every once in a
while. Most people who come here for a visit say that if they lived
here they'd swim every day. In fact they'd make sure they swam every
day, at sunrise and sunset. As a child I would actually do that.

I remember waking up in the morning, bunking school and go for a dip
in the sea or make sand castles and fool around till my skin got so
tanned I'd cry when my mom hugged me. So she'd rub coconut oil all
over my sun-tan and scold me for bunking school. Then I'd wake up the
next morning and repeat the exercise.

This morning I swam after almost three months. Three months of
sweating under that same sun and toiling just to make pots of money so
I could enjoy myself. While that's precisely what I'm sacrificing.

I sit in the boat to cross over to and from my place every day, and
three months ago was the last time I leapt off the side of it. You
don't have to leap off the side of the boat to get into the sea, it's
just that I remembered that I'd forgotten to enjoy myself only after I
was halfway across the bay. The Bay is called Flat Bay, it's very
safe. And in this bay we own an island. Yup, an island.

Basically, on these 30 acres of land surrounded by sea, privately
owned and therefore very, very exclusive and secluded, we the Nobles,
have built our own little water bungalow surrounded by about 10 feet
of sea in high tide and about 5 feet in low tide. Yes I am a queen,
Queen of Noble Island.

This bungalow is what we're converting into a restaurant. We're doing
this because no where in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, where we're
situated, will you find a fully equipped sea-cuisine restaurant with
its own fish farm in the middle of the sea just off the coast of a
private island.

The plan here is to start kayak tours to nearby islands, British ruins
and historical sites. There isn't a single water sports facility in
the entire Andaman and Nicobar islands and we're opening one right in
the heart of Port Blair, the capital city of the Andaman and Nicobar
islands, with the added USP of it being a private, secluded and very
serene island.

Surrounding my paradise island is Sippighat Jetty, a wharf, to its
south. To its north lies Viper Island, a heritage site known for it's
harsh treatment to prisoners during the British era. To its west lies
Chouldari Bay, an inhabited part of Port Blair city. To its east is
the nearest point of Port Blair land, about 500 metres away, known as
Autumn Pahad. From this point, the airport is a mere 3 km.

The Nearest jetty used by ferries from the airport to the island is
known as Junglighat Jetty, approximately 7 km away from it. The
nearest Medical facility from the island is to the south, 4 km away
from Autumn Pahad is the Community Health Clinic. To the north, 6 km
away is Pillar Clinic; and approximately 10 km away is G.B. Panth
Hospital, Port Blair's biggest, most reputed hospital."

VONAMOR?

Virgin Islands such as the Noble Island are the latest hotspots of lifestyle and water-related activities. Marina developments on these and a possibility of a whole new experience for holiday-revelers have opened avenues for marine-tourism and all that follows.

We wish Tanaz all the best - in times of pirates, they would go to islands for search of treasure, but in our times...her island itself is a treasure!
