Lobster Bake And A White Boat: Here Comes Summer!

If Lobsters are your favourite, one must experience the lobster cruise in Maine. Maine, the easternmost state in the United States is known for its scenery — its jagged, mostly rocky coastline, its low, rolling mountains, and its heavily forested interior — as well as for fishing and its seafood cuisine, especially lobsters and clams. Their unique Lobster Cruise will take you fishing for lobsters, and cook your fresh catch aboard a yacht or on the beach! Lobster Bake Charters are the perfect way to celebrate graduations, summer holidays, birthdays, reunions, corporate events, and company picnics. Weddings and rehearsal dinners are very popular, too!

If lobsters and clams steamed in a pile of rocks and seaweed, dipped in melted butter, and served with hot corn on the cob sounds good to you, get yourself a lobster bake. There are a number of ways to experience this traditional summer meal, from hiring a caterer to doing it yourself. This is a great large group activity and is also a traditional beach activity.

Lets find out how they go about it in Maine:
To do your own lobster bake (or more accurately, a "lobster steam"), you'll need a #3 galvanized washtub, some rocks, salt water, and seaweed. Place the washtub on the rocks about a foot off the ground and build a fire underneath. Place two inches of salt water in the tub and bring it to a rapid boil.

Add the lobsters (bought fresh the day of the bake) and cover with two inches of seaweed. Add the clams and mussels and cover with another thin layer of seaweed. Place the corn on the cob on top of that, leaving some of the husk on the ears. Cover with seaweed. By this time, you should have a roaring fire going. Place butter in a coffee can, set it next to the fire, and allow it to melt.

Boil everything for approximately 20 minutes. Don't over cook. Lobsters are done when they turn bright red. Clams and mussels are done when they open. A lobster bake is best enjoyed on a beach.
So the next time you plan a fun celebration make sure you do it in style! Stay tuned in for more insights on Yachting in Maine.
