Major marine companies are reporting that up to 70% of their sales leads are coming from the Internet. Need that be enough reason itself for one to choose the online medium?
If you are still not convinced then read on…
The internet today is probably the fastest and most effective mode of communication in the world. Its mass reach and quick access makes it the most preferred sort of communication channel ever.
Also with its dynamic capabilities and multimedia features it allows users to gain maximum knowledge and information without really having the mess to read every page of a magazine.
We all are aware that current affairs related articles in magazines are never really “Current” by the time it reaches your hands. The internet allows free flow of information without the barrier if time and provides instant information even before it has reached the editor of the magazines.
Just to give you an example -
The Internet just killed Australia's oldest magazine, just seven days short of its 128th anniversary, the Bulletin, has ceased publication. Its owners said the death of the current affairs magazine was 'somewhat symptomatic' of the impact of the internet on similar publications worldwide. (powerboat-world)
From the feed back that we have received from Indian yachting related companies, internationally most of the sales especially spare parts, merchandise, tool kits, products are all maximum sold on the internet.
The life span of the article is confined to the time the magazine is available and until its not sold as scrap paper. Articles on the internet however never seize to exist. One can always search them on all the popular search engines like Google, msn etc. retrieving articles in magazines is a mammoth task in itself unlike online articles where everything is archived.
Looking forward, these marine websites are expanding their multi-media offering, providing downloadable video and audio content as well as expanded image content and mobile phone results, text messaging and totally customisable content delivery.
These were just the basics we covered today. In our next post we will cover online vs offline mediums and the advantages attached in more details.
