Volvo Ocean Race - More than 32 International Sponsors already Set to Sail...

With 7 super sail-boats already a part of the World's most premier ocean-race...a flurry of 32 companies have already confirmed their participation in this mega-race.

With a strong contingency of communications and apparel companies...the pace of the race will definitely be fast and furious as competing corporates take their battle from land to the oceans.

Commenting on Ocean Racing being the next logical step for Volvo, Head of Sport Sponsorship and Global Events at AB Volvo - Tony Larsson says 'Volvo has been involved in sports for many years. We have always played a big part in developing major sports. Sailing was a natural continuation for the brand and the decision was not difficult to make. We are fortunate to have found sporting events that we believe in, that can be promoted and that reflects our core values. It is the excitement of the ocean racing that appeal to us and we want to link that excitement to our brand.'

As the race’s sole official logistics partner, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) is transporting all essential race equipment and promotional supplies for the race organisation and the participating syndicates.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics is the leading independent provider of finished vehicle logistics solutions for manufacturers of automotive and rolling equipment. WWL offers global and integrated solutions from factory to dealer.

Services include ocean transportation, terminal and technical services, inland distribution and supply chain management, combining global reach with local market expertise.

WHAT'S NEXT...?

Four teams - Carbon Challenge, Russian Ocean Racing Club, Raw Ambition Sailinng, Chieftain Racing are some of the other privileged teams that are already in the running to become the next set of confirmed teams for the VOR '08.

With much time left yet for the race, it's great to see the event building up well from the sponsors end. To a strong extent, it is the change in perception towards sailing being an integral part of the lifestyles and culture of the people - which these sponsors are attempting to touch...
