So...you are buying your FIRST boat...WOW!
CONGRATULATIONS...
You must have had a great time chosing your boat. It must probably be a LOOOOOONG process...considering maybe some years back when you used to use 4 limbs you played with one (in your mini-bathtub...probably one of those bright yellow kinds)...till you got to sing about it in nursery (row...row...row your BOAT)...then you saw one at the peer and then wished to own one.
Until now...all those years of hard work (a.k.a. Sweat & Blood)...and saving up enough for your children's education, retirement, your next home (phew...long list)...and more...you at last managed to buy your boat !
But was it simple!?...right from the time you knew you could get one...and tried to gain knowledge...you got thrown at with facts like 'owning a boat', 'maintaining a boat'...fuel costs...blah blah blah!
WOW (#2)...'cause you passed that stage and landed into 'what size?', 'what price?', 'what color?', 'what upholstery?'...a few tiffs with your loved ones (apocalyptic apparitions)...and what not!
And you felt that you were born lucky because you are getting to own of those 'mini-ships'...a super huge yacht....going through the process might have made you realise that BIGGER IS BAD with the number of options just skyrocketing!!!
BUT NOW YOU OWN A BOAT...WOW (#3)!
And what's it called....?
That's when you realise that the light at the end of the 'tunnel' was only a train coming towards you...
World over it's a well known story that chosing the name of your boat especially if its your first one...is tougher than chosing the name for your baby...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY...!
Yacht owners seem to be most worrisome when it comes to giving their boats a name simply since you wouldn't want to name something that's so exclusive 'TOM' or 'Apple'...
It would be easy for Abramovich who's yacht M/Y Eclipse is the world's largest yacht when it would touch the waters, to be called so, since it would probably eclipse any other propelled private vessel.
Or look at M/Y Kalizma...the luxury yacht, which Richard Burton bought for Elizabeth Taylor was called so for Burton's children Kate, Liza and Maria.
What does a boat owner from it's name?....
According to this site...the Top 5 most common names for boats are ...
1) Orion (Boring...no wonder its on number 1)
2) Zephyr (...are you serious? Just as the stone doesnt suit every wearer...the name might not suit your boat!)
3) Stargazer (Do you actually need to buy a boat to gaze at stars...you might as well do it in your backyard...nah?!)
4) Free Spirit (Is it a Ghost-Ship!?)
5) TBD (Atleast frank...if not undecided!)
Well it's easy to criticise...so it's better we give you some solutions...
Just as owning a boat regardless of its shape and size, is a personal and exclusive affair...make sure that your boat's name is something very personal and extremely exclusive...
So we guess you'd ask us...what would we name our boat...ummmm...guess it would be 'PIECE OF CAKE'...
...sounds delicious, tasty, sweet, easy to remember, funny, unique, we love cakes (so it's personal...), haven't heard of a boat with that name yet (...and hence it's exclusive)...but most of all PEACE-FUL(pun intended)...WOW (#4) !
Have a GREAT WEEKEND !
